Weekly thread: what moved in the dating industry this week?
Let us keep one running thread for deals, data drops, policy changes and product launches that matter to operators. Post what you are seeing with a source link where you can. I will pin the most useful items each week. To kick off: more pressure on age assurance in the UK and EU, and another round of consolidation among the mid size platforms.
Welcome to the operator community. Start here and introduce your site.
Quick intro from me: I am Kim, Head of Operations here, and I have spent the last decade launching dating sites on white label platforms. This space is for the people actually running sites, not the agencies selling to them. Reply with what you are building, the niche you are in, and the one thing you are stuck on right now. The more specific you are, the more useful the answers you get back.
Trust and safety baseline: what every dating site needs on day one
Trust and safety is not a feature you bolt on later, it is the thing that keeps your payment account alive and your members safe. My day one baseline: visible reporting and blocking, a real moderation queue, clear escalation for threats, and a written policy you actually follow. Add what you consider non negotiable and I will turn it into a checklist for the community.
The affiliate networks worth your time in 2026, and the ones to avoid
I have run dating traffic through most of the big networks at some point. Rather than a static ranking, I want a living thread on who is paying well and on time right now, who has good dating offers, and who is shaving or holding payments. Share your recent experience with payout, offer quality, tracking and support, and please be specific about dates.
How to pressure-test a niche before you build it
Most failed niche sites die because the niche was too small, too broad, or had no reachable audience. Before building, I check three things: is there search demand or an active community I can reach cheaply, is there real intent to pay, and can I create early liquidity in a single region or interest. Post a niche you are considering and the community can pressure test it with you.
Read first: how to choose a white label platform in 2026
Before you post a "which platform should I use" question, here is the framework I use with every operator I advise. Score each provider on member liquidity in your niche, revenue share terms and how locked in they keep you, payment and chargeback handling, data portability if you ever leave, and how fast support moves when something breaks at 2am. Liquidity and exit terms are the two people forget and later regret. Ask below and I will help you score the providers you are weighing up.

OSA age assurance before July: what are you actually doing?
The Online Safety Act duties are not abstract anymore and the clock is real. I am seeing operators split between proper age estimation providers and lighter self declaration plus monitoring. I want to compare real approaches. What are you implementing, with which provider, and what is it costing you per check?
What is your actual payer conversion rate right now? Be honest.
I want a reality check from people who actually run sites rather than the inflated numbers in vendor decks. On a UK mainstream niche I am seeing visitor to registration around 11 percent, and free to first payment around 3.8 percent and slowly sliding since Q1. What is your honest free to payer rate, what niche, and the one change that moved it the most?
Stripe flagged my account as high risk. How did you get approved?
I got the dreaded email two days after launch. Dating is high risk to most processors, but plenty of operators clearly make it work. Did anyone get reinstated with Stripe, or did you all move to a high risk specialist? Naming the processors that approved you would help a lot of people here.
Meta rejected every dating creative since the June policy update. Workarounds?
Three ad accounts, all flagged within 24 hours of the new policy. The same creatives ran fine in May. I am rebuilding angles around lifestyle and community rather than romance, with mixed results so far. What copy or creative angles are still getting approved for you this week?
DatingPartners vs Dating Factory for a UK niche launch in 2026?
Helping a friend choose for a UK mainstream launch and these two keep coming up. I have run sites on both at different points. Rather than just give my opinion, I want current experiences: liquidity in UK postcodes, how revenue share actually nets out after fees, and how each one treated you when something went wrong. What are you running, and would you pick it again?
Age assurance is coming. How are you reading the timeline?
Between the Online Safety Act in the UK and equivalent moves in the EU, age assurance is shifting from optional to expected. The operators who treat it as a feature rather than a tax will come out ahead. How are you reading the timeline, and is it changing what you build this year?
How much capital do you actually need to launch a dating site in 2026?
Everyone quotes a different number, usually whatever suits what they are selling. From what I see, the honest minimum is platform fees plus a real marketing budget for the first 90 days, because organic alone will not fill a site fast enough to create liquidity. I want to build a realistic range here. If you launched in the last 18 months, what did month one to month three actually cost you, and where did the money mostly go?
Best transactional email provider for dating deliverability?
Gmail is eating my transactional mail and it is hurting activation, because members never see the new message nudge that brings them back. I am weighing Postmark, SES and a couple of dating friendly ESPs. If you have real inbox placement numbers for dating volume, I would love to see them before I migrate.
Best ID verification provider for a small operator: Yoti, Veriff or Didit?
Verification is becoming table stakes for trust, but the pricing and integration effort vary a lot. For a small operator without a big dev team, which provider gave you the best balance of cost, pass rate and ease of integration? Real per verification costs very welcome.
TikTok CPL doubled overnight. Anyone else seeing this?
I was running at about 1.40 a lead, then woke up to 2.90 with no campaign changes. Wondering if it is a wider auction shift, a seasonal thing, or just my account getting throttled. If you run dating on TikTok, what is your CPL doing this month?
